Summer Giveaway from Kellogg's

It's complete serendipity that I've been eating Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats as a snack at night when I'm craving something sweet and crunchy before bed (otherwise dark chocolate is my usual go-to!) AND that Kellogg's has offered this great giveaway for FitMamaEats readers! I like Mini-Wheats because they have a nice nutrition profile when eaten as a snack: 6 grams fiber, 5 grams protein, and extra iron and folic acid along with other vitamins and minerals. It actually contains 90% of the Daily Value for iron, making it one of the top cereals if you're looking for an iron-rich food. I counsel many vegan or vegetarian clients who run low on dietary sources of iron and vitamin B12, and often suggest fortified cereals like this one. Another favorite tip: Crush a small handful (about 6-7) of the biscuits and sprinkle onto plain Greek yogurt along with some fresh berries to add crunch, fiber, and extra nutrients into a breakfast or snack yogurt (I discovered this while trying to use up all those cereal shreds at the bottom of the bag).

The serving size is 21 biscuits, or about 1 cup. At 190 calories and 1 gram fat, this is also a satisfying snack if you're a waist watcher. Whole grain wheat and sugar are the two main ingredients. With 11 grams of sugar, it's not a low sugar food but compare that with two Fig Newtons, which have 12 grams of sugar and are not nearly as satisfying (and honestly, have you ever eaten just two Fig Newtons?). Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats are included on the Environmental Working Group's list of "6 Good Big-Brand Cereals" in their recent comprehensive report on sugar in children's cereals

So now the fun stuff. The giveaway includes a plush hotel-style 100% cotton Liz Claiborne bathrobe, oh-so-fuzzy slippers from Pajamagram, lavender scented confetti soap sprinkles, and a full size 18 oz. box of Frosted Bite Size Mini-Wheats (retail value $100).

There are a few ways to enter and it couldn't be easier: Just contact me with your name and email address in the comments below (your email will not appear publicly), send that info through the "Contact Me" link to the left, or if you're on Twitter retweet this post and follow me so I can send you a DM! Entries from the U.S. will be accepted until July 27 midnight and the winner will be randomly chosen and contacted on July 28. I received this gift package and a gift card to facilitate this review. I like to slip into the robe to help me relax and pretend that I'm here:

Smile Good luck!

Researchers show that people who eat a low-sugar, low-fat cereal for breakfast are more successful at maintaining their weight loss. And I all I have to say that it is really true.
